She Said Yes

Summary

Joe Dupe and Sam Dupe’s youngest brother Ben just got engaged and so they got together to ask the questions that the fellas ask when their friends pop the question. What made her the one? Where you the scared she would say no? We talk about how Ben wants to be the leader of the household and the idea of submission in the marriage. We discussed premarital counseling and how Ben doesn’t like the idea of counseling although his future wife thinks it would be helpful. We have a special guest appearance by Ben’s future wife towards the end and we get to ask her some of the same questions that we asked Ben and her responses are surprising.

Can’t Leave it Alone

Summary

Today we are talking about our experience with how sex can totally blind a man at times. We love women and we love what women offer to us sexually and our sex drive in our younger days have influenced some really poor decisions. Sometimes it can be so good that a man can find himself being a slave to the coochie. Sometimes sex will make you stay with women you have no business being with and even staying toxic situations that you knew you should have left a long time ago. We talk about mistakes we’ve made and advice that we would give to our younger selves when it comes dealing with women on a sexual level. A Single Father’s Story

Summary

We get to talk to Rodney about his journey being a single father. Rodney is a father of 3, but a single father of his oldest son who he had when he was only 17. We talk about his struggles, the misconceptions of a single father and how having a child young has forced him to grow up fast. Rodney discusses his relationship with his father and how that has impacted the type of father that he is and how he raises his son. Although his son’s mother is not a part of his son’s life Rodney really hopes that in the future that relationship could be mended. He also talks about how he is able to keep his spirits up while going through the day to day of being a single parent and overcoming his bouts with depression.

Surviving The Switch-Up

Summary

Sam Dupe and Joe Dupe always here from their male friends about the switch-up that happens after a year or so of being in a relationship that starts to cause problems. All of a sudden you’re not having sex like you’re used to and the conversations aren’t as meaningful the interactions aren’t the same as they used to be. Today we bring Brandi (Sam Dupe’s wife) and Amber (Joe Dupe’s girlfriend) on the show to explain the switch-up, what happens during the switch-up so that men can get a better understanding. They also give their examples of how men switch-up in the relationship and how men send their “representative” when they first meet women.  We breakdown how to survive the switch-up and also Amber and Joe Dupe give a real example of a recent switch-up that they are working through while they are in a long distance relationship.

A Single Mother’s Story (Raising KJ)

Summary

Today we bring you a story of Amisha who raised a young scholar by the name of KJ on her own. Her son recently graduated high school and is currently a student at Morehouse College and received millions of dollars in scholarships. Amisha tells us about the struggles of raising a young black man and what it took to bring the best out of the young man. She talks about the relationship that she has with the father of her son and how she struggled without the support for so many years. Amisha gives us a glimpse of what she wish she had from a co-parenting relationship and how she pressed through in order to ensure the success of her son.

Loni Love Said What?

Summary

Last week Loni love of “The Real” said she doesn’t believe black men know how to be faithful and that black men use money and power as a reason to be able to treat women any kind of way. As you can imagine that triggered a conversation that is definitely needed within the black community. We bring Amber on the show again to help us get a little perspective from the woman’s point of view. Tell Mikell breaks down why he thoroughly disagrees with the statement. We discuss how our social structure and media outlets contribute to this narrative. We also tackle the parts of Loni Loves statements that we agree with and how we can push this conversation forward. We talk about the black men don’t cheat movement and how we can support and move that narrative forward to make it more popular.

Tangibles vs. Intangibles

Summary

Sam Dupe had a conversation with one of his woman friends regarding an issue she is having with a man who she wants to be more serious with who has all the intangible things that she wants, but he is stills struggling in his career and what he wants to do. Today we are talking about the tangibles versus the intangibles when dealing with men. Joe Dupe and his girlfriend Amber are in a similar situation and provide and interesting perspective to what it is like to be in this type of situation. We talk about the pressure for men to have the tangible things that women want in order for them to be taken seriously. We also discuss some ways if you’re a women in this situation to be able to tell if you want to move forward with a man who doesn’t have the tangible things you need.

Parental Betrayal

Summary

A parent’s job is to nurture, protect and do what is in the best interest of their children. So what happens when the people that you thought were here to protect you only put you in harms way? Jerome comes on the show today to share his story of how he was physically abused as a child by his stepfather all while in the presence of his mother. He talks about how his parent’s decisions landed him in the foster care system and having to fend for himself at a very early age. Now that Jerome is a father himself he discusses what impacts his upbringing has had on the parent he currently is and the parent he will choose to be. We also discuss how he got through his situation and how he used art as a way of healing his emotional wounds.

Summary

This episode is about how a father had to go and fight for rights to his child. Often times the legal system can seem daunting and difficult to deal with and sometimes unfair to men who just want the rights to their children that mothers in some states get automatically. Oladi comes on the show to give our listeners a unique perspective into what he had to go through to get legal rights to his son. He talks about the mistakes he made and what he wish he could have done differently to make his road a little easier.  We also discuss how to heal the wounds of the custody battle and ultimately do what is in best interest of the child.

This is the second part of the conversation with Joe Dupe regarding why he hasn’t married his girlfriend of 4 years.
